Connection method of prefabricated steel structure

There are three kinds of connection methods of steel structure: weld connection, bolt connection and rivet connection.

1. Weld connection

Welding joint is to make welding rod and weldment partially melt by heat generated by arc, and then condense into welding joint by cooling, so as to connect weldment into a whole.

Advantage:

It does not weaken the cross section of components, saves steel, has the advantages of simple structure, convenient manufacturing, large connection stiffness, good sealing performance, easy to use automatic operation under certain conditions, and high production efficiency.

Disadvantages:

The heat affected zone of the steel near the weld due to high welding temperature may be brittle in some parts; During the welding process, the steel is subjected to uneven distribution of high temperature and cooling, resulting in welding residual stress and deformation, which has a certain impact on the bearing capacity, stiffness and performance of the structure; Due to the high stiffness of welded structure, once the local crack occurs, it is easy to spread to the whole, especially brittle fracture at low temperature; The plasticity and toughness of welded joints are poor, which may cause defects and reduce the fatigue strength.

2. Bolt connection

Bolt connection is through the bolt this fastener to connect the connector into a whole. Bolt connection is divided into ordinary bolt connection and high strength bolt connection

Advantage:

The construction technology is simple and easy to install, especially suitable for the site installation and connection, and also easy to disassemble, which is suitable for the structure that needs to be assembled and disassembled and temporary connection.

Disadvantages:

It is necessary to open holes on the plate and align holes during assembly, which increases the manufacturing workload and requires high manufacturing accuracy; The bolt hole also weakens the cross section of the component, and the connected parts often need to overlap each other or add auxiliary connecting plates (or angle steel), so the structure is more complicated and the steel cost is more.

3. Rivet connection:

The rivet connection is that one end of the rivet with a semicircular preformed rivet head is quickly inserted into the rivet hole of the connector after the rivet rod is burned red, and then the other end is also riveted into a rivet head with a rivet gun to make the connection tight.

Advantage:

Riveting is reliable in force transmission, good in plasticity and toughness, and easy to check and guarantee in quality. It can be used in heavy and directly bearing dynamic load structures.

Disadvantages:

Riveting process is complex, manufacturing costs labor and materials, and labor intensity is high, so it has been basically replaced by welding and high-strength bolt connection.
